Joan Miró (1893–1983) – Original lithograph from El Tapís de Tarragona (1972)
Original lithograph by Joan Miró belonging to the prestigious publication El Tapís de Tarragona, edited by Sala Gaspar (Barcelona) in 1972. The work reproduces the unmistakable plastic language of the Catalan artist, characterized by the combination of intense primary colors, broad black strokes and graphical signs of great expressive force.
This composition forms part of the famous artist's book dedicated to Tapís de Tarragona, a project developed by Joan Miró in collaboration with the master upholsterer Josep Royo. The publication constitutes an important testimony of Miró's interest in experimentation between different artistic disciplines during the 1970s.
The lithograph is printed on the original offset paper of the edition, preserving the characteristic central fold as issued within the volume. Edited by Sala Gaspar, a historic Barcelona gallery closely linked to the promotion of Miró's graphic work and of other great masters of 20th-century art.
