Description from the seller
Dialog in the Studio
Oil on canvas, 1971
Signed: Guidobaldi
Description of the work:
The work presents a refined composition of cubist origin, in which the female figure and a still life merge into a single geometric construction. The woman, depicted in profile with an absorbed demeanor, appears to gaze toward an elegant pitcher placed on a plane, establishing a silent dialogue between human presence and objects.
The artist breaks down the forms into essential volumes, defined by strong outlines and a skillful balance between flat surfaces and curves. The palette, dominated by warm earth tones, ochre, brown, and olive green, gives the overall scene a gathered, timeless atmosphere. The influences of Synthetic Cubism are reinterpreted in a personal key, with a softer, more decorative language, in which the search for plastic solidity prevails over extreme fragmentation.
The composition conveys a sense of calm and introspection, transforming a simple interior scene into a reflection on the relationship between the human being and the space that surrounds him/her. The balance between vertical lines, harmonious curves and color planes creates a work of strong visual impact, capable of combining compositional rigor with poetic sensibility.
