Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on the gaze, presence and perception of image in the urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later, intrigued by the unique aesthetics of collectibles and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Private Worlds
In a repetitive facade where every window becomes a world, light reveals fragments of silent lives. Behind each colored square, simple — almost invisible — gestures tell of intimacy, waiting and isolation. No gaze meets another, no story intersects. A collection of contemporary solitudes, housed within their own illuminated frames. This series was designed from contemporary visual creation workflows, using graphic tools and current digital composition techniques.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, adhered between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and across Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
