Meisterstück Solitaire Sterling Silver 925 ballpoint pen with a solid silver body and gold‑plated clip, nose and three institutional rings, made in Germany in the early 20th century, serial MI111285, 12 cm long and 1.2 cm in diameter, in good used condition and functioning with a twist mechanism.
Description from the seller
In this section we present a great classic of Hamburg craftsmanship, a piece that combines the timeless design of the Meisterstück line with the charm and weight of precious metals: the Montblanc Meisterstück Solitaire Sterling Silver 925 Ballpoint Pen (Pinstripe / Millerighe Pattern).
Belonging to the luxurious "Solitaire" family, this pen abandons traditional resin in favor of a body and cap made entirely from solid 925 Sterling Silver. To further adorn the instrument, there is a refined vertical guilloché engraving (Pinstripe pattern), which not only gives dynamism and brilliance to the silver but also offers an exceptional tactile grip. The warm and elegant visual contrast is created by the yellow gold-plated finishes on the clip, the nib/point, and the three institutional rings. Stamps reading "925" are regularly present on the clip and the barrel, certifying the purity of the precious metal.
Operation relies on the classic and smooth continuous twist mechanism for extending the tip. Your photographs of the instrument disassembled certify the integrity of the internal block.
Now to the conservation status, which requires maximum transparency to protect your auction. Mechanically the pen is perfect and functional. Aesthetically, the instrument presents generally good condition. Solid silver is inherently a very soft metal and prone to marks: as you masterfully highlighted in the photographic set, there are several dents and scattered dings on both the lower barrel and the upper part, in addition to the usual daily-use micro-scratches (hairlines) and slight wear of the gold plating. The cap dome features the iconic white star.
