Tsuka with menuki and tsuba - Iron (cast/wrought) - Japan - Unknown

Japanese sword fitting set, likely for a wakizashi, consisting of an iron tsuba with openwork decoration and additional fittings. The tsuba has a thick iron plate and shows a paulownia-style openwork design at the upper and lower sections. The accompanying fittings include a pair of seppa and one plain red habaki. A handle component with black wrapping is also included. The stated handle-front length is approximately 14 cm.

The metal fittings show visible age-related wear, rubbing, small scratches, and surface oxidation consistent with age and use. The exact material of the secondary fittings, the exact period, and the exact school or maker attribution are not confirmed by me and are therefore described conservatively. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.

If a storage box is included, it should be described as a modern storage box unless original authenticity can be proven.
