Description from the seller
Collection of official acts and other writings concerning the destruction of the Republic of Kraków, with preliminary discourse by Filippo De Boni. Lausanne, S. Bonamici e Compagni, 1847.
In-16° (cm 15,5 × 9,5); pp. LIV, 246, (6). Contemporary binding in half red leather with gilt title on the spine ("DE BONI – RACCOLTA").
Rare work of great historical-political interest. Filippo De Boni (1816-1870), Mazzinian patriot, journalist and writer, publishes in Lausanne – just a few months after the events – the most complete contemporary collection of official documents, treaties, decrees and writings relating to the annexation of the Free City of Kraków by Austria (1846). The long and passionate Preliminary Discourse is a real republican pamphlet in defense of Polish independence and against the great powers. It contains, among other things, the acts of the Congress of Vienna, the treaties of 1815, the Austrian imperial decrees, lists of victims of the massacres in Galicia and numerous European press articles of the time. Original edition, not easy to obtain on the antiquarian market.
Along with the volume are present:
• Cesare, I Commentari, edited by Raffaele Ciaffi. Turin, UTET (Classici), blue cloth binding with gilt titles. Pp. 594.
• Giuseppe Parini, Il Giorno. Second edition. Rome, Oreste Garroni, 1915. Pp. 126.
• Cornelio Tacito, La Germania, translated into Italian and annotated with the facing text by Carlo Canilli. Florence, G. C. Sansoni. Pp. 207.
• Marco Tullio Cicerone, Le quattro arringhe contro Catilina. Milan, Rizzoli (Biblioteca Universale). Pp. 76.
• Educare all’Europa. Come diventare europei, edited by Andrea Piras. Il Cerchio. Pp. 92.
Lotto di sei volumi in buono stato di conservazione complessiva, con il pezzo di maggior pregio e rarità rappresentato dalla Raccolta del 1847 di Filippo De Boni, documento fondamentale per la storia del Risorgimento europeo e della questione polacca.
