In the series Hope, Grief and Rain, Olaf blends influences from mid-century modern style and film noir with contemporary fashion photography. His images evoke a nostalgic America of the 1950s and 1960s while exploring themes of loss, loneliness and quiet despair. The tension between beauty and estrangement forms the essence of his work.
