On the occasion of Erwin Olaf's sixtieth birthday, this substantial publication appeared, in which the photographer for the first time presents an extensive overview of his body of work. The monumental coffee-table book contains no less than 240 photographs and shows both his early black-and-white images as well as his famous autonomous works and most recent creations.
The book offers an impressive insight into Olaf's artistic development over four decades: from his early years as a provocative and rebellious photographer in Amsterdam's nightlife to his later role as an internationally renowned portrait photographer and master of meticulously composed, still images.
In addition to the rich imagery, Olaf also provides personal remarks on his working process and themes. With his great technical mastery of the photography medium, he combines aesthetic perfection with sharp and often penetrating commentary on identity, beauty, desire and societal conventions.
