Description from the seller

This work is part of The Red Hat Collection, a series of pieces in which a mysterious silhouette wearing a red hat traverses the world's most iconic locations, inviting the viewer to imagine its story...

Regarding the square in the bottom left: Each work signed Wags is now accompanied by a discreet red square, most often.

This graphical sign serves as a visual marker, a deliberately minimal presence that links the works together without disturbing the composition. Like a contemporary seal, this square accompanies each creation and contributes to the visual identity of Wags' universe.

Biography:

Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the path of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers at a very young age his first passion, music creation. This passion guided him in his youth, and his early talents led him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies into creating his first album.

Distributed by EMI, the album did not achieve the expected success, but it marked the beginning of an artistic career rich in experimentation.

Alongside his musical career, Wags entered the world of advertising as a copywriter for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he dedicated his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine's advertising campaigns.

The turning point in his career came in 2005 when he became a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovered a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Wags made a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

Seeking to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym so as not to interfere with his usual work.

This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and treatment of light that feel familiar to them.
