A beautiful set of three Wajima-nuri lacquer art panels by renowned Chinkin master Kaji Takeshi, one of the leading contemporary lacquer artists from Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Each square panel is finished in deep black Traditional Japanese Urushi Lacquer and decorated using the traditional Chinkin (gold-inlaid engraved lacquer) technique. Fine engraved lines are filled with precious metal powders to create elegant motifs with remarkable precision.
The three seasonal designs include:
Rabbits beneath the full moon surrounded by autumn pampas grass.
A pair of owls resting peacefully on a branch.
A blooming morning glory with delicate foliage.
The artist’s signature appears on each panel, and the original biography sheet is included. Kaji Takeshi was born in Wajima in 1939, studied under master Chinkin artist Furusaka Tamotsu, and has exhibited repeatedly at the Nitten Exhibition and the Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition, receiving numerous awards throughout his career.
These panels can be displayed individually or together as a decorative triptych, making them suitable for both traditional Japanese interiors and modern contemporary spaces.
