WAL-EVERSHARP SKYLINE FOUNTAIN PEN (USA, 1940s):
We present at auction an absolute icon of 20th-century design: the Wahl-Eversharp Skyline. Designed in the early 1940s by the renowned industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, its radical teardrop silhouette, inspired by the aerodynamics of locomotives and aircraft of the era, instantly became the best-selling pen in the United States during that decade.
This is a very comfortable and well-balanced instrument, with exact measurements of [Introduce length] cm in length (closed) and a maximum girth of [Introduce thickness] cm.
This unit features a deep dark celluloid body that wonderfully contrasts with the dazzling metal cap. The cap features a pattern of horizontal lines and is made in "Gold Filled" (thick 14K yellow gold plating, sealed 1/10 14K Y.G.F.). At the top of the clip shines the iconic "Double Tick" (the brand’s quality seal).
Mounted with its original 14-karat solid gold nib (Made in USA). The filling system is the traditional side lever mechanism, so characteristic of the American fountain pen gilded age.
Condition (Expert Review)
Payers/ bidders are asked to carefully inspect the photo gallery. The pen is in exceptional aesthetic condition for more than 80 years of history:
Celluloid and Metal: The body retains a deep shine with no major scratches, cracks, or bite marks. The gold-plated cap is in superb condition, with the grooves well defined and the gold plating in excellent condition.
Nib: In magnificent condition, clean and with the slits properly aligned.
Mechanics: The lever rests flush with the body. (Note: as this is a vintage lever-fill pen, the original rubber sac inside may need replacement for everyday use by the buyer, which is standard for pens of this era. Supplied without original case).
Shipping
The item will be carefully protected and securely packaged, with insured shipping and an international tracking number.
A new opportunity for collectors of vintage American fountain pens and lovers of Art Deco industrial design!
