Remo Brindisi (Rome, 1918 – Lido di Spina, 1996) was one of the most important protagonists of Italian art in the second half of the 20th century. Painter, etcher, and tireless experimenter, he developed a strongly personal expressive search, characterized by a figurative language in constant evolution, capable of reconciling emotional intensity with refined graphic sensibility.

The lot offered by Corrado Bongiovanni brings together three original etchings, all untitled, printed on fine Rosaspina Fabriano paper for artistic engraving by Luciano Bongiovanni, a printmaker active for numerous Italian artists of the second half of the 20th century. The quality of the print and of the paper effectively convey the richness of the etched mark and the depth of the blacks, features that fully enhance Brindisi's graphic language.

The first work is a Proof Print (P.d.S.). The sheet measures 25 × 35 cm, while the printed image measures 14.5 × 19.5 cm. It shows a slight crease in the upper left corner, a contained defect that does not interfere with reading the image.

The second etching is an Artist's Proof (P.A.). The sheet measures 20 × 20 cm, with an imprinted image of 11 × 9 cm. This is a lot of particular collector interest, traditionally destined to the artist and made before the final edition.

Completing the lot is the third numbered etching XVII/XXV. The sheet measures 24.5 × 35 cm, while the printed image measures 13.5 × 19 cm. There is a light crease along the lower left margin, also limited to the edge and without affecting the enjoyment of the work.

The works come from Corrado Bongiovanni's private collection, developed over time through Luciano Bongiovanni's activity as a printmaker. No certificates of authenticity or other documentation are present, but the direct provenance from the family collection represents a particularly interesting historical and collecting element.

Overall, the condition can be defined as good. The paper retains good overall freshness; physiological and light signs of time are present, with modest yellowing and slight edge creases already described for two of the works. Such imperfections do not compromise either the aesthetic quality or the legibility of the engravings and are fully compatible with the nature and age of the prints.

Proof prints and artist's proofs traditionally constitute the most sought-after part of copperplate prints, as they document the stages preceding the definitive edition and are normally available in very limited quantities. The presence, in the same lot, of a Proof Print, an Artist's Proof, and an example from a small numbered edition makes this set particularly interesting for both collectors of Italian graphic art and anyone wishing to deepen the engraving activity of Remo Brindisi.
