Description from the seller
ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD EXISTS - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan portrays a human brain as a blue-and-white porcelain piece, broken and then repaired with gold according to the Japanese art of kintsugi, standing out against a deep black background.
The treatment imitates fine blue-and-white ceramic style: the organ is painted with oil in cobalt tones, adorned with floral motifs and traditional scrollwork, the material modeled with almost anatomical precision. A network of golden cracks runs across the surface, suturing the hemispheres with veins of brilliant gold. The cartouche メドサン signs the work in red.
The piece blends anatomical imagery and the philosophy of kintsugi, this aesthetics of the broken repaired and elevated. The brain, seat of thought and memory, becomes a metaphor for resilience: our fissures, our inner scars, far from being weaknesses, are what make us unique and precious.
A contemplative and refined piece, ideal for adding a poetic and symbolic touch to a contemporary interior of a collector who is an art enthusiast of Japanese art and curiosities cabinets.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a vibrant and plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both as collaborative creation and as individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, outsider art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
