With this square-format work, Medsan conjures Cthulhu, the tentacled deity imagined by H.P. Lovecraft, above a hurricane-tossed schooner in a nocturnal storm, in a scene of cosmic terror.

The treatment adopts the style of Romantic maritime painting: dramatic oil, lunar chiaroscuro, a raging sea with dark-green waves worked in texture, a stormy sky veined with rain. The three-masted ship, torn sails and tiny crew, struggles to survive as the colossal silhouette of the Great Old One, glowing eyes and outstretched wings, towers in the clouds. The cartouche メドサン signs the work.

The piece embodies Lovecraftian cosmic horror: the smallness of man before indescribable and immemorial forces. The fragile ship facing the monstrous god becomes the allegory of our insignificance in a hostile and impenetrable universe. Medsan conveys all the power and vertigo of it.

A dark and spectacular piece, ideal for adding a dramatic and mysterious touch to a contemporary interior of a collector of fantasy and weird literature.
