The “Perry Rhodan” works by A. R. Penck were produced in 1996 in several variants (Perry Rhodan I–IV). Each edition has the format 70 × 100 cm and was issued as a color screen print in an edition of 40 copies. 
A. R. Penck (1939–2017) is regarded as one of the most important German artists of the postwar era. The painter, graphic artist, and sculptor born in Dresden developed a distinctive visual language of line figures, signs, symbols, and apparently primitive or archaic forms. His works frequently deal with communication, social structures, and the comprehensibility of signs.
Penck became internationally known especially for his reduced, coded visual language and is associated with the art of the “New Wild”: 1980s. His works are present in numerous major international collections.
