Gijsbert Hanekroot (Brussels, 1 May 1945) is a Dutch photographer. He worked as a reportage photographer from 1969 to 1983 for magazines such as OOR, Nieuwe Revu, Viva and Margriet and for various newspapers. He is self-taught and did a three-month internship with Philip Mechanicus. During that time he took concert photos of The Outsiders, which marked the start of his career as a pop photographer. He was the first to make a living from this. He was OOR’s staff photographer from 1970 to 1975 and was succeeded by Anton Corbijn, who was his assistant for a while.
