Description from the seller
Crypto Comics Series - Reconstituting a photo using photos from the depicted comic.
David Law
Photographer-Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of images in urban space. He first made a name for himself with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models gain a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as an “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough job is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent way.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum panels, with flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops an authorial and musical career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
