Walter Valentini (Pergola, October 22, 1928 – Milan, May 20, 2022) was an Italian painter, sculptor and engraver, internationally recognized in the field of graphics and engraving.
His cultural and professional training began at the Scuola del Libro in Urbino, a place of knowledge of intaglio techniques such as etching, lithography and woodcut. Here he began to breathe the air of humanism and to work paper as if it were an interlacing of nerve fibers of his body. Urbino means painting, architecture, philosophy which, in the Quattrocento, with Federico da Montefeltro as patron and intellectual, find unity in Neoplatonic thought and where Piero della Francesca, Laurana and court poets design utopia. Space, time, the real are ordered in a rational system; the individual parts relate to the whole through proportionality, which is the intelligible sign of beauty and the Creator.
