Description from the seller

Hugo Kaagman (1955) is an Amsterdam-based artist who began his career within the punk, graffiti and squatting movement of the seventies. As co-founder of, among other things, the fanzine Koekrant and the punk club DDT666, he developed his own visual language in which street culture, graffiti, and the iconic zebra motif were central. Later he enriched his work with influences from Morocco and Senegal and combined Oriental patterns with traditional Dutch motifs, such as Delft blue, which he ironically named Shocking Blue. Kaagman created countless large murals and designs for, among others, Schiphol, British Airways, and the Dutch consulate in St. Petersburg. His work is characterized by a playful yet critical fusion of street art, craftsmanship, Western and non-Western influences, where tradition and modern visual culture come together in a unique way.
