Description from the seller
Little is known about the life of Dirk Peter van Lokhorst (1848-1894). We do know that he received his first painting lessons from his father, the then well-known Utrecht animal painter Dirk van Lokhorst. He initially continued to live and work in Utrecht, but moved in 1882 to Haarlem, and six years later left for Heidelberg for good. Dirk Pieter painted mainly landscapes with livestock and sheep. A few coastal or beach scenes are also known. Museums: among others the Teylers Museum in Haarlem and the Haags Gemeentemuseum.
Dimensions of the work: 22 x 33 cm
Provenance: Originating from a Dutch private collection
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition we have our own in-house framing shop, celebrating its 85th anniversary year. We also make use of restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be pleased to hear from you.
