About the Artist
Udo Hohenberger is a contemporary Austrian painter who lives and works in Vienna. He studied painting and graphic design at the Neue Wiener Kumstschule (New Vienna Art School) and has been a lecturer there since 1999, teaching figure drarwing, movement studies, and experimental painting. His work has been exhibited internationally including in Austria, Germany, China, Japan and Israel.
His paintings are recognised for their dynamic, expressive brushwork and line, semi-abstract human figures emerging from translucent layers of colour, exploration of movement, energy and the relationship between the human body and space. He uses acrylic, oil, charcoal and mixed media to create depth and atmosphere.
Udo Hohenberger was nominated for the Shiele Award in 2022.
Dance at the Volcano is particularly fitting with Hohenberger's work. In German, the phrase refers to living or celebrating in the face of uncertainty or danger - a metaphor for the tension between beauty and risk. It complements the artist's fascination with movement, emotion and the human condition.
The black frame enhances the artwork's visual impact and provides a clean, gallery quality presentation suitable for both contemporary and classic interiors.
