Casa mexicana XL is an original, hand-signed 100 x 70 cm acrylic painting by E. García (Spain, 2026) in Realism, depicting an architectural scene with a yellow façade and a blue door.
Description from the seller
CASA MEXICANA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work represents the access to a bright, colonial-inspired dwelling, led by a yellow façade, an open blue door, and a side staircase covered with bougainvillea. The courtyard, decorated with pots, tropical plants and a geometric black-and-white paving, conveys a warm, lush atmosphere deeply linked to the traditional architecture of Mexico.
The composition is organized through a frontal perspective that guides the gaze from the foreground steps to the interior visible through the door. This opening functions as a frame within a frame and adds depth, mystery and a sense of invitation. The staircase, the vegetation and the different architectural levels bring movement to a scene dominated by calm and light.
The palette combines solar yellows, turquoise and cobalt blues, intense greens, pinks, purples and earthy tones. The yellow façade acts as a major luminous focus, while the blue door and the sky create a complementary contrast of immense visual strength. The visible brushwork, the simplification of forms and the freedom of color relate the work to Fauvism, Post-Impressionism and contemporary figurative decorative painting.
Echoes of Henri Matisse can be perceived in the integration of architecture, vegetation, color and ornamentation, as well as affinities with Raoul Dufy in the luminosity and lightness of the environment. The scene also converses with Mexican artistic tradition and with the chromatic imagination of Luis Barragán, especially for the expressive use of yellow walls, the intense contrasts and the connection between built spaces, gardens and natural light.
The bougainvillea, the potted plants, the checkered pavement and the open door turn the house into a living refuge. The work evokes Mexican haciendas, colonial houses, Yucatán courtyards, San Miguel de Allende and the tropical villas of Latin America. The absence of figures allows the viewer to imagine walking through the courtyard and crossing the door into a tranquil and cool interior.
Casa mexicana is especially appealing to collectors interested in contemporary figurative painting, Mexican architecture, colonial houses, haciendas, tropical courtyards, yellow façades, blue doors, bougainvillea, gardens, geometric pavements, Fauvism, Post-Impressionism and works with references to Matisse, Dufy and Luis Barragán.
