Description from the seller
Elio Marchegiani (1945)
Rubber, from a performance lasting 45 years – 1971
An important original work by Elio Marchegiani, a prominent figure in Italian artistic research of the second half of the 20th century, known for experimenting with industrial materials and for the dialogue between painting, sculpture and installation.
The work, entitled “Rubber, from a performance lasting 45 years”, was created in 1971 with rubber elements, presented in a display case with glass and an aluminum frame, in keeping with the minimalist and conceptual language typical of the artist.
The composition consists of vulcanized rubber fragments arranged in formal balance inside the case, creating a refined play of solids and voids. The piece testifies to Marchegiani’s ongoing exploration of the expressive value of matter and the transformation of industrial material into artistic language.
