Description from the seller
An exceptional original masterpiece by Italian maestro Remo Brindisi (1918-1996), one of the most influential figures of Italian figurative expressionism in the 20th century. This touching work captures his most famous and distinctive theme: Maternity. Through fluid and energetic black contours, balanced by delicate and theatrical shades of pink, Brindisi brilliantly seals the universal and primordial bond between mother and child. His peculiar graphic synthesis and emotional intensity make this piece captivating and highly impactful, ideal for prestigious art collections as well as sophisticated interiors. Technical evaluation and details: Artistic quality and style: Excellent composition that demonstrates Brindisi's mature graphic language, where line and blocks of color interact dynamically. The profiles of the face and the structured silhouettes of the hair are the distinctive traits of his postwar neo-figurative phase. Materials and technique: Mixed media / tempera on high-quality paper or cardboard. The application of the paint preserves a beautiful liveliness and a texturizing brushstroke. Framing and presentation: elegantly presented inside a fine two-tone wooden frame with a refined fabric matting featuring a gold-colored inner edge, which perfectly enhances the modern color palette of the artwork. Authenticity: signed “Brindisi” with the artist’s distinctive handwriting in the bottom right quadrant. An extraordinary opportunity to acquire a clearly recognized and highly secure investment piece from a titan of Italian art whose heritage is preserved in international museums. Conditions: Excellent; the work is well preserved; the frame shows very slight and negligible signs of aging consistent with the period, which do not affect the visual enjoyment of the piece. Technique: Tempera painting / mixed media. Era: Second half of the 20th century (roughly the 70s / 80s). Color: Intense pink, black, neutral background tones. Signature: Present (autograph, bottom right). On the back of the work there is an official authenticity statement, handwritten and signed by the artist himself: “Original drawing authentic. Remo Brindisi” which guarantees the absolute authenticity of the work, significantly increasing its historical value. Dimensions of the painting: 49.5 cm x 35 cm. The lot will be adequately boxed and shipped with affiliated couriers and online tracking. For this lot, no shipments outside the European Community are made.
