Mark Kostabi – "Interior Design" – Hand-Signed Limited Edition Giclée, Professionally Framed

Mark Kostabi, born in 1960 in Los Angeles to Estonian immigrant parents, is one of the most recognisable names to emerge from New York's legendary 1980s East Village art scene, alongside contemporaries Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. He studied drawing, painting, and music at California State University, Fullerton, before moving to New York in 1982, where he quickly established himself as a leading figure in the city's art world.

Kostabi is instantly identifiable for his faceless, mannequin-like figures set within surreal, often architecturally rich scenes exploring love, isolation, technology, and modern anxiety. In 1988 he founded Kostabi World, his Manhattan studio famous for employing teams of assistants and collaborators in the spirit of Warhol's Factory — a model that drew coverage from People Magazine, CNN, and The Oprah Winfrey Show, among many others. Since 1996 he has divided his time between New York and Rome, and Italy's architecture and atmosphere frequently surface in his work.

Kostabi's art reaches far beyond the gallery world: he designed the iconic cover art for Guns N' Roses' "Use Your Illusion" and The Ramones' "Adios Amigos," and has created work for Swatch, Bloomingdale's, Alessi, and Rosenthal, among others. His paintings are held in major institutional collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim.

"Interior Design" is a striking example of Kostabi's surreal figurative style — two of his signature faceless figures embrace in an opulent, dreamlike interior, complete with a chandelier, grand piano, and a winged figure suspended mid-air, all rendered in his bold, richly saturated palette of purples and reds.
