Mixed media on canvas, with pigments/acrylics, applications and metallic effects. The composition represents a bullfighting scene with the characteristic characters of Juan García Ripollés' plastic universe, built through bold and expressive forms. It highlights the strong contrast between deep blacks, whites and reddish tones, ochres and golds, as well as the presence of clear lines that delineate the figures and accentuate the graphic nature of the composition.
The work presents a surface of great material richness, with different textures, glazes, splashes and metallic effects that add depth and movement. The large bow and the monumental central figure confer upon the piece a particularly decorative and recognizable presence within Ripollés' figurative language.

Juan García Ripollès (1932) is a painter, sculptor and printmaker. Known as Ripo. He is one of the references of Spanish figurative expressionism and his painting is surrounded by nature and color. He has exhibited internationally: Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Taiwan, etc. He returned to Spain in the 1970s and since then his studio is the garden of Mas de Flors.
