Description from the seller

Henk Jonker (1912-2002) was self-taught and learned from his later wife, a famous photographer, during World War II, among other things, the phototechnical forging of identity papers! Austria and Jonker were in the resistance and would later have to go into hiding during the war. After the war they together founded the news agency PARTICAM (a combination of partisan and camera).

A hallmark of his work is black-and-white photography, technical refinement, and capturing 'small' moments, people, street life, and the countryside. The Amsterdam City Archives hold a large collection of photographic prints by Henk Jonker.
