Mara Solène (born 1982) is a painter who primarily works with oil painting. Her research explores the human figure as a space of relationship between identity, presence and perception. Her works feature figures suspended between reality and imagination, with simplified forms and faces that move away from realistic portraiture to become expressive instruments. At the center of her work is the relationship between the figures: the gaze, the distance and the silent tension that builds in the painting space. Her practice moves between figuration and distortion, in an essential inquiry in which identity remains open and in continuous transformation.
NB: The work will be shipped inside a sturdy tube suitable for shipping. The colors of the painting may differ slightly from the photos due to screen settings. In person the artworks are more beautiful than in photography: one can appreciate the hypnotic beauty of oil colors coming to life on the canvas.
Worldwide shipping via UPS courier.
