The sheet adopts the name of the French classicist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, without confining itself to a mere quotation; rather, Wunderlich transforms the historical reference into an autonomous, tense composition.

Typical for his graphic work is also here the combination of clarity and irritation. Wunderlich works with a formal language that recalls classical models while at the same time creating its own slightly distanced atmosphere. It is precisely this mix that gives the work its charm: it appears familiar and foreign at the same time.
