Artist biography: Painter Nguyen Robert, 1958.
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work stands out for a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he is fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, and the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would become the foundation of his visual language.

Having always lived in his regional homeland, Nguyen Robert over decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and architecturally oriented style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while retaining a poetic sensibility rooted in Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows Western rigor in modern compositions and bold contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of great visual power.

Renowned for his ability to transform daily life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is now regarded as one of the distinctive voices of contemporary Delta Mékong painting.
