Description from the seller
Pair of Original Mixed Media Silkscreens, 1999
A rare pair of original one-of-a-kind mixed media silkscreens by contemporary artist Carl Smith, both signed and dated 1999.
Executed in layered screenprint, collage, and mixed media techniques, these works exemplify Smith’s distinctive fusion of urban abstraction and figurative surrealism. Rich indigo, charcoal, slate blue, cream, and muted ochre tones create cinematic compositions with exceptional depth and texture.
The first work, titled Walking, presents a fragmented architectural streetscape with strong graphic perspective and atmospheric layering. The companion figurative piece combines landscape abstraction with an expressive female form emerging through textured tonal fields and gestural overlays.
Unlike editioned prints, these are unique original works — not part of a numbered series — making them significantly rarer within Smith’s body of work.
Both are professionally framed in warm hardwood frames and preserved in excellent condition.
