Description from the seller
RARA ÅGE BØGELUND – HANDMADE IN DENMARK – DANISH FREEHAND – ANNI '80
Important Danish artisanal pipe by Åge Bøgelund, signed AGE BOGELUND – L – HANDMADE IN DENMARK, made from briar and characterized by the typical organic lines of the Danish Freehand school.
Åge Bøgelund is a historically linked figure to the Bari workshop, of which he was responsible for production from 1979 to 1993. Parallel to Bari production he created a smaller number of personal pipes distinguished by his own name. These pieces are today considerably less common than the standard Bari pipes and present an interesting value for the Danish pipe collector.
The specimen presented here measures 153 mm in length and weighs just 56 grams, thus well proportioned and comfortable ergonomically as well. The briar has a smooth and dark finish, while the vulcanite mouthpiece completes the composition with the classic color contrast of the Danish pipe.
The stamping AGE / BOGELUND / L / HANDMADE / IN DENMARK constitutes the key element for attribution. The combination of the stamps is consistent with documented Bøgelund specimens on the specialized market.
