Description from the seller
Special Series Crypto Rock - Recreating a photograph using pictures of the represented artist.
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later drawn to the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, challenging our relationship with illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary reinterpretation of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the represented subject. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. Extensive work is carried out on color, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated rear mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
