Description from the seller
Special Series Crypto Rock - Recreating a Photo Using Photos of the Represented Artist.
Artist Photographer – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographer, author, and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence, and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series dedicated to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light, and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A New Reading of Cultural Icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction made of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth treatment is applied to colors, light, and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability, and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual work, he develops a writer’s and musician’s career, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book, and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
