Description from the seller
This artwork is an original etching by the renowned Dutch artist Co Westerik (1924–2018), titled Man and Child in the Evening. The work dates from 1959 and is executed in the etching and aquatint technique.
The work also evokes Rembrandt's famous self-portrait.
The designation "h.c." at the bottom of the print stands for Hors Commerce (outside the regular trade). This means that this copy is one of the few official prints specially reserved for the artist himself or his printer, outside the regular numbered edition of 20 copies.
Characteristic of Co Westerik's style is the subtle estrangement and the psychological intensity with which he depicts ordinary or intimate situations.
