"Le Dernier Soleil" gathers three figures at the edge of an infinity pool overlooking a Mediterranean coastal town, suspended in the last minutes before the sun disappears beneath the horizon. The composition unfolds as a contemporary reinterpretation of the classical Three Graces, transposed from marble halls to warm stone terraces and turquoise water.
At the left, a dark-haired woman stands with her back to the viewer, one hand resting on her hip, her gaze directed toward the sinking sun. At the centre, a second woman sits at the pool's edge, her feet submerged in the luminous water, her eyes cast downward in quiet introspection. To the right, a blonde woman stands facing the horizon, her hair lifted by a faint evening breeze, her posture open and contemplative. None of the three acknowledges the viewer. Their attention belongs entirely to the moment, to each other, and to the dying light.
The setting anchors the scene in sensory richness. A solitary Mediterranean pine silhouettes against the gradient sky, its twisted trunk framing the composition from the left. Below the terrace, a coastal village begins to glow with amber light as dusk settles over its white facades. The turquoise luminosity of the pool reflects upward onto the figures, creating a cool counterpoint to the warm pinks, corals and deep blues of the sky. The interplay between the natural warmth of the sunset and the artificial glow of the water produces a palette that is both serene and deeply atmospheric.
The nudity of the three figures is treated with classical restraint, functioning not as spectacle but as a return to an elemental state of being. Stripped of adornment and social signifiers, they exist in a moment of shared stillness, unified by the ritual of witnessing the last light. The composition suggests that this is a private ceremony repeated each evening, a privilege earned through solitude and beauty, belonging only to those who remain when the sun goes down.
The artwork explores themes such as feminine contemplation, shared solitude, the passage of light, Mediterranean sensuality, classical beauty in a contemporary setting, the rituals of dusk, stillness as intimacy, and the quiet sovereignty of the unadorned body.
T. Pimenta is a Portuguese artist whose commitment to creating visually striking artworks seeks to develop pieces capable of establishing visual presence and emotional connection with viewers and collectors.
The creative process begins with an initial conceptual construction, where the central narrative and emotional direction of the composition are defined. Subsequently, the artistic vision is developed through Adobe tools, digital construction processes and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), adding depth, texture, light and structural refinement.
His approach combines traditional artistic sensibilities with contemporary digital techniques, allowing the exploration of different visual languages and the continuous expansion of creative possibilities.
Each artwork additionally receives a manual finishing intervention through an individual hand-applied artistic varnishing process, designed to reinforce luminosity, visual depth and material presence.
