"Le Dernier Soleil" gathers three figures at the edge of an infinity pool overlooking a Mediterranean coastal town, suspended in the last minutes before the sun disappears beneath the horizon. The composition unfolds as a contemporary reinterpretation of the classical Three Graces, transposed from marble halls to warm stone terraces and turquoise water.
At the left, a dark-haired woman stands with her back to the viewer, one hand resting on her hip, her gaze directed toward the sinking sun. At the centre, a second woman sits at the pool's edge, her feet submerged in the luminous water, her eyes cast downward in quiet introspection. To the right, a blonde woman stands facing the horizon, her hair lifted by a faint evening breeze, her posture open and contemplative. None of the three acknowledges the viewer. Their attention belongs entirely to the moment, to each other, and to the dying light.
The setting anchors the scene in sensory richness. A solitary Mediterranean pine silhouettes against the gradient sky, its twisted trunk framing the composition from the left. Below the terrace, a coastal village begins to glow with amber light as dusk settles over its white facades. The turquoise luminosity of the pool reflects upward onto the figures, creating a cool counterpoint to the warm pinks, corals and deep blues of the sky. The interplay between the natural warmth of the sunset and the artificial glow of the water produces a palette that is both serene and deeply atmospheric.
The nudity of the three figures is treated with classical restraint, functioning not as spectacle but as a return to an elemental state of being.
