Description from the seller
A0000004838
The fountain pen is in very good overall condition, notable especially for maintaining an elegant and authentic presence typical of pre-war Montblancs manufactured between the late 1930s and early 1940s.
The body and cap retain an excellent gloss in the original black celluloid, with a clean and even surface. There are light signs of use and small surface marks consistent with the piece’s age, with no cracks, deformations, or visible structural damage. The gold bands and the teardrop-shaped clip maintain a good aesthetic presence, showing only light natural wear from the passage of time.
The translucent amber ink window preserves notable transparency for this model, allowing proper viewing of the ink level, something especially valued in specimens from this era. The engraving “Montblanc” on the cap remains visible and well defined.
The pen retains its original Montblanc nib in solid 14-carat gold, decorated with the classic “Montblanc” engraving, the brand’s emblematic star, and the inscription “14C.” The nib presents an elegant, sober aesthetic characteristic of pre-war productions from the late 1930s, maintaining an excellent visual presence and proper overall conservation.
It stands out particularly for offering a pleasant semi-flex response, allowing a slight natural variation in line width and providing a smooth, expressive writing experience that is very characteristic of high-end vintage German fountain pens. The original ebonite feed remains installed, contributing to a stable and balanced ink flow.
The telescoping filling system functions correctly. The pen has been serviced and made operational before sale, ensuring proper operation and ready for use or collection.
This is an especially attractive specimen for Montblanc vintage collectors and German pre-war historical pieces, combining originality, good preservation, and one of the most emblematic mechanisms developed by the brand.
Conservation recommendations:
Use high-quality fountain pen inks, avoiding pigmented inks. Clean with lukewarm water if not used for a while. Dry completely before storing. Keep in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Operate the filling system gently to preserve the original telescopic mechanism.
It will be shipped in a courtesy box for proper preservation. Happy bidding!
