Description from the seller
The Montblanc Writers Edition 2013 is a prestigious limited series dedicated to the famous French writer Honoré de Balzac. As in every limited edition from the Maison, in this case too the details pay homage to the personality and work of the celebrated author. Balzac's initials are finely engraved, in a typeface typical of the era, on the solid 18k gold nib. The decorative rings of the pen represent the three main French social classes of the 19th century, masterfully described in The Human Comedy: the upper ring on the cap, sumptuous and embellished with gold finishes, symbolizes nobility; the middle ring represents the bourgeoisie, while the simple ring placed on the cone alludes to the less affluent classes. The design and shape of the pen reflect Balzac's imposing figure and style. The cone of the fountain pen, in particular, evokes the pointed shoes that the writer was accustomed to wearing. The dark gray tones of the lacquered body, alternating with refined decorative lines on the cap, recall the author's daily attire. To complete the tribute, Balzac's signature is elegantly engraved on the cap, making every detail of this edition an authentic and refined homage.
