Description from the seller
The shown work is an original heliogravure titled Aronskelken (1923) after the 1911 painting by the Dutch artist Jan Mankes (1889-1920).
• Characteristics: A finely printed black-and-white heliogravure with a tranquil still life of arums (calla lilies) in a vase, characteristic of Mankes' minimalist and atmospheric style.
Originally appeared in the monographic portfolio on the artist Jan Mankes, published in 1923 by art dealer J.A.A.M. van Es in Utrecht. The work was assembled and introduced by his widow A. Mankes-Zernike and the artist R.N. Roland Holst, and contains about 29 high-quality heliogravures of his paintings and drawings
