Kuno Schiefer (Stuttgart, 1948 – São José dos Campos, 1992) was a German painter and graphic artist who spent most of his life working in Brazil. His oeuvre includes paintings, drawings and graphics, with his Brazilian period mainly characterized by influences from tropical nature and the landscape. He was noticed early and his work was exhibited in important galleries in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. From 1985 he worked alternately in Brazil and Berlin, which had a significant influence on his artistic development.
In his work Schiefer evolved from figurative representations of everyday objects to expressive, often abstract interpretations of vegetation and nature. His paintings are characterized by intense colours, a strong sense of light and an almost musical rhythm in composition and brushwork. Through the interaction between Europe and Brazil, a personal visual language emerged, in which he gradually moved away from figuration and toward a more introspective and free painting.
Viewings are, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house bespoke framing shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
