Description from the seller
IT EXISTS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format artwork, Medsan places two icons of science fiction face to face: the Xenomorph born from H. R. Giger's biometric design for Ridley Scott's Alien, and Samus Aran in her Power Suit, heroine of Nintendo's Metroid saga. The confrontation is treated as a copper repoussé bas-relief, as if the clash had been engraved on a metal plaque found in the hull of a spacecraft. The red cartouche メドサン, artist's signature in katakana, is inscribed in the bottom right of the panel.
The entire composition plays on relief and chasing: bulging volumes, polished edges that catch the light, darkened hollows by a dark patina, and a hammered planed background that vibrates around the figures. The ribbed veins of the background directly echo Giger's biomorphic vocabulary — tubing, vertebrae, industrial organic structures — and envelop the two bodies in the same matrix. The palette remains monochrome, warm copper boiled down to brown and verdigris in the backgrounds, with two phosphorescent green accents: the Xenomorph's acidic saliva and the glowing circuits of Samus's armor. The raised forearm cannon, the drooling jaw, and the spiraled tail organize a taut diagonal from one edge of the square to the other.
The mashup makes sense: Metroid owes its atmosphere to the film Alien, and the work closes this circle by giving Samus an adversary that her Metroids visually descend from. Freezing this confrontation in copper transforms it into a mythic scene, like a classical pediment or a battle frieze — the pixel becomes a monument. The two greens calling to each other across the frame speak to the hidden kinship between the hunter and her prey: same energy, two camps.
A nerve-racking and graphic piece, ideal for bringing a touch of sculptural science fiction to an interior of a collector who loves cult cinema and video games.

About the Workshop:
Atelier Joconde is a workshop of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the workshop operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive exploration, blending abstract art, naive art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and followed within the atelier, with a common artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
