Medsan, Kintsugi Pikachu (金継ぎのピカチュウ) – UNIQUE WORK, a 40 × 40 cm Giclée mounted on a wood panel, signed by hand, edition 1/1, created in 2026, in a pop art blue‑and‑white porcelain style from France, sold directly by the artist.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan brings Pikachu, the absolute mascot of the Pokémon franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori for Game Freak and Nintendo, into the vocabulary of blue-and-white Japanese porcelain. The motif is treated as a sometsuke decor, this heritage of cobalt blue that traveled from the Jingdezhen kilns in China to the workshops of Arita and Imari. The character occupies the entire surface, ears pointed, red cheeks, the tail flash deployed in a zigzag to the left edge, while Sacha appears as a small silhouette in the lower right corner, hand on his cap.
The drawing is executed with a cobalt-loaded brush, in solid and flowing lines typical of underglaze decoration, with light washes for the body shadows and two touches of iron red for the cheeks. The entire surface is traversed by a network of fine cracks, over which broad fractures are rejoined with gold: this is kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with urushi lacquer dusted with gold. In the lower part, a landscape of pines, rocks and flowing water borrows from the classic repertoire of export porcelain landscapes. The cartouche メドサン, the artist’s signature in katakana, is traced in gold at the bottom right, in place of the workshop seal.
The rapprochement says something true about the icon: the world’s most reproduced character in gaming culture is here treated as an ancient piece, broken and repaired without concealing the wound. Kintsugi rejects the new and makes the fracture the very site of value, gilded and visible. Pikachu becomes a collectible object worn by time, and the childhood he embodies suddenly reads as something fragile that one has chosen to glue back together rather than replace.
A piece that is at once pop and deeply Japanese, ideal for bringing a touch of ceramic elegance and deliberate nostalgia to an interior of a collector attached to cultivated mashups.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living and plural contemporary creation. Installed as a true center of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. At his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, mixing abstract art, brut art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
