Description from the seller
ORANGE CHAIR is a 70×100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. The work presents an interior open to the sea, built as a scene of rest, light, and contemplation, in which domestic architecture and the coastal landscape merge into an image of strong chromatic intensity. The composition turns a habitable corner into a luminous, serene, and deeply evocative pictorial vision.
The scene is organized around an orange armchair in the foreground, accompanied by a small round table on which rests an open book. In the background, glass doors open and frame the view of the balcony and the blue sea, creating a fluid transition between the interior and the exterior. The potted plants on both sides reinforce the sense of freshness and Mediterranean life, while the decorated floor introduces visual rhythm and ornamental complexity. The color palette is one of the work’s most striking features. Ernest García articulates space through a vibrant harmony of oranges, yellows, blues, and reds, colors applied with expressive freedom and clear emotional intention. This chromatic intensity recalls the Fauvist tradition and, in particular, the heritage of Henri Matisse, where the interior, the window, and color function as vehicles for a sensual and open visual experience.
The brushstroke is visible, loose, and confident, bringing freshness to every area of the painting. The surfaces do not seek meticulous realism, but a pictorial synthesis based on the balance between form, color, and atmosphere. The chair, the small nightstand, the book, the plants, and the balcony railing integrate into a clear, harmonious, and very well-structured composition, where each element contributes to the sensation of luminous intimacy.
Orange Chair sits within a line of contemporary figurative painting that dialogues with Mediterranean interiors, the painting of windows and balconies, and the modern tradition of domestic space as a poetic place. The work not only represents an interior with sea views but also an experience of pause, reading, and contemplation, charged with warmth and visual sophistication. For its expressive color, its coastal atmosphere, and its refined balance between interior design, landscape, and contemporary painting, this work will be especially attractive to collectors interested in Spanish contemporary art, figurative painting, Mediterranean interiors, reading scenes, balconies overlooking the sea, Fauvist colorism, and compositions with echoes of Matisse.
