Description from the seller
Octomore 11.3 is distilled 2014 and is an rare release which has a powerful and highly distinctive Islay single malt whisky, showcasing the exceptional combination of intense peat smoke, locally grown Octomore farm barley and carefully selected cask maturation. Octomore 11.3 peat level PPM 194 is a bold and complex expression that demonstrates that extreme peat can coexist with depth, balance and elegance.
The palate is rich, smoky and surprisingly complex, with flavours of smoked lemon, vanilla, caramel, toasted malt, black pepper and oak. Despite its very high peat level, the whisky maintains a remarkable balance between smoke, sweetness and the character of the spirit. The finish is exceptionally long, dry and smoky, with lingering notes of peat, pepper, oak and maritime salinity.
Octomore single malt has defied perceived whisky wisdom since its launch in 2008. Octomore stands as the world’s most heavily peated whisky, smashing records with phenol levels. Matured for five years, always super-heavily peated and bottled close to cask strength, An experiment which pushes the boundaries of whisky making, the influence of terroir, cask management and peat levels on the final flavour – with each single malt having its own distinct and unique character.
