Jean-Christophe Béchet - Tombouctou peut-être...

Jean-Christophe Béchet (born in 1964 in Marseille) is a French photographer, mainly a photographer of the “real,” between reportage and landscape. He is also a journalist and author of specialized works on photography. He has lived and worked in Paris since 1990.

Heir to street photography, whether American, French or Japanese, he strives to renew this genre without abandoning the field of the “subjective documentary,” combining reportage and landscape, portrait and architecture, poetry and political engagement. His view of the world is built book by book.

Since 2002, he has published about twenty monographs. After being represented by the Paris gallery “Les Douches, la Galerie” from 2005 to 2020, his work is now presented by “La galerie des Photographes” in Paris.

Works exhibited as part of the Rencontres de la photographie in Arles in 2022.
