AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

From the folder: Colors and carved signs, rare wood engraving from 2006, 34.5 x 24.5 cm.

Walter Valentini (Pergola, 22 October 1928 – Milan, 20 May 2022) was an Italian painter, sculptor and printmaker, internationally recognized in the field of graphics and engraving.
He was a master of techniques such as etching, aquatint, drypoint, color lithography, and intaglio.
Numerous awards and participations: 1st Biennale of Contemporary Italian Printmaking in Venice in 1955; International Biennales of Ibiza and Listowel; International Biennale of Krakow in 1984; International Biennale of Ljubljana in 1984 and 1989; the 47th Venice Biennale; Quadriennale di Roma in 1999.
He created, on direct commission, large installations in Milan, Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Chiaravalle (Ancona), Pesaro, Siegburg (Germany), Connecticut and Aspen (USA).
He was part of the group that in 2001 designed the Ca' Staccolo church in Urbino.
Valentini’s universe is poetic, rhythmic, musical; a geometric and evocative symbolism that leads toward a synthesis, almost metaphysical and surreal, a relationship between sign, structure and visual matter that tends toward a new constructivism rich in suggestions, so much so that it appears as “states of mind.”
Since the 1970s he has deepened the link between painting and engraving, together with a thorough determination of space with temporal valences, time and space, interpreted and reinvented with mastery through lines, abrasions, cracked walls, architectures and magical, poetic geometries.
