AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Shadows of History explores the traces that remain when memories, events and perceptions accumulate over time. Layers of black, white, grey and muted yellow overlap in a dense, fragmented composition, suggesting forms that appear and disappear beneath the surface.
The painting combines spontaneous brushwork, scraped passages and contrasting areas of opacity and transparency. The result is a surface that seems simultaneously constructed and eroded, where traces of movement coexist with moments of silence.
Rather than depicting a specific historical event, the work evokes the idea of history as a collection of fragments: partially preserved, partially obscured, and constantly reconstructed through memory.
The gestural approach and layered composition place the work within contemporary abstract expressionism and lyrical abstraction, while leaving the interpretation deliberately open to the viewer.
An original painting, directly from the artist's studio.
