Description from the seller
Anubis is the Greek name of the god of death, mummification, embalming, the afterlife, cemeteries, tombs and the Underworld, in ancient Egyptian religion, usually depicted as a dog or a man with a canine head. Anubis has assumed different roles in various contexts. Depicted as a tomb protector already in the First Dynasty (about 3100–2890 BC), Anubis was also an embalmer. One of his leading roles was that of a god who guided souls into the afterlife. He assisted at the scales during the “Weighing of the Heart,” where it was determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the kingdom of the dead. Ra is the ancient Egyptian god of the sun. With the Fifth Dynasty in the 25th and 24th centuries BC, he had become one of the most important deities in ancient Egyptian religion, identified mainly with the noonday sun. It was believed that Ra ruled in all parts of the created world: the sky, the Earth, and the afterworld; he was the god of the sun, order, kings, and heaven. Ra was depicted as a falcon and shared characteristics with the sky god. It was believed that all forms of life were created by Ra. In some accounts, humans were created from Ra’s tears and sweat; in the myth of the Celestial Cow, it is told how humanity conspired against Ra and how he sent his eye as the goddess Sekhmet to punish them.
