Description from the seller

Maki-e Autumn Flowers
Production: 2015
Nib: 18-carat gold
PELIKAN
Maki-e Autumn Flowers
The background of this remarkable Maki-e motif has been adorned with a rich lattice pattern, made with translucent red and black lacquer stripes. One of the techniques used is called “Kakiwari” and is available only to very talented artists: between individual drawings a thin line or gap is left, creating a three-dimensional effect. A bell was added to this elegant composition using blue specks of mother-of-pearl. The piece has a restrained character, evoking golden summer days and a hint of melancholy for the approaching autumn.
The result is a masterpiece that combines German craftsmanship, rooted in over 175 years of tradition and technology, with excellent Japanese Maki-e painting techniques. This fountain pen was painted using the Kaga-Togidashi-Taka-Maki-e technique. Each fountain pen is individually numbered and signed by the artist. This series is limited to only 88 pieces worldwide. Each model is equipped with a nib of 18-karat two-tone gold and enclosed in a traditional Japanese paulownia wood box.
