Montblanc Meisterstück Classique rollerball, Model 163 Gold Line, in black precious resin with gold‑plated fittings, cap and body, origin Germany, dating to the Fine 20th century, 12 cm long with a 2 cm diameter, serial CP1474834, in good condition with minor wear and a deep cap engraving reading "VNU NLG 2.75 billion".
Description from the seller
Here at auction we present a celebrated classic of writing signed Montblanc: the Meisterstück Classique Roller (Model 163) Gold Line.
The body and cap of this iconic instrument, characterized by its sleek cigar-like shape, are crafted in the traditional black precious resin. The deep black of the resin creates an elegant contrast with the bright yellow-gold plated finishes, which include the classic teardrop clip and the three gold rings.
Crowning the top of the cap is the famous six-point white star, the unquestioned symbol of the maison.
Technically, it is a roller (rollerball), featuring a removable cap that can be conveniently slipped over the end of the barrel during use.
As documented in the photographs of the disassembled pen, the instrument uses Montblanc’s standard roller or fineliner refills, easily replaceable by unscrewing the grip section from the main body.
Regarding its condition, the item is generally in good condition, but with a fundamental peculiarity to be openly disclosed.
The precious resin maintains good luster, presenting the physiological micro-scratches (hairlines) resulting from normal use.
WARNING: On the side of the cap there is a conspicuous and deep personalized engraving reading "VNU NLG 2.75 billion".
This specific engraving, most likely commemorating an important financial agreement or corporate milestone (NLG referred to the Dutch guilders), personalizes and strongly marks the aesthetic of the object.
